Annabel has had her hands on fabrics and paints from an early age. Her love of art has been a steady flame throughout her life. Annabel used her artistic skills as a cartographer, a traditional quilter and teacher and now as an art quilter.
Annabel enjoys blending colors, textures and dimensions in her quilts and is proud of the way they uplift cancer and diabetes patients in their permanent homes in treatment centers around the country. Annabel is an active member of the art quilt group Fiber Artists@loose ends and enjoys the challenges, camaraderie that brings to her life.
Annabel’s latest quilts reflect her fascination with nature and the resilience of certain plants. The Lady Slipper Orchid survives in cold, swampy conditions in Nova Scotia. The Hellebore blooms in late winter to provide hope as we anticipate Spring. This plant dies back in the summer yet it renews itself in late fall. She is a exploring several series that will provide broad challenges and shifts in value and color as she interprets her themes.
