Like all of us my personal experiences are one of a kind. I bring that individuality to my art quilts. I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale and have lived in southeast Florida for 50 years. My quilts have appeared in many Quilt National and Quilt San Diego exhibitions and are in many corporate, museum and private collections. and art in public places.
Personal growth is a primary motivation. Finding new ways of accomplishing growth continues to lure me onward. My processes have often involved applique rather than piecing. In the beginning I used direct applique in a collage methodology. Then I became very interested in whole cloth reverse applique. In recent years I have also used machine thread painting on canvas to create a heavily textured surface with a tapestry-like appearance. Now I am juxtaposing this thread painting with works that are completed with all hand-done random running stitches.
Nature’s compositions are inherently honest and provide me with an infinite source of inspiration. Images from my photography are converted to express my feelings. I enjoy creating art that draws the audience in and initiates a response.
